The story takes place in the year 2071 and follows the journey of five 11 year-olds as they participate in a creative, multi level invention-building competition. It’s set in a world where children are called by their student numbers, instead of their names, and forced to study one school subject only unless they can manage to move through the ranks of the Piedmont Challenge.
Set against a backdrop of futuristic objects like flying scooters and airborne playgrounds, and told from the perspective of eleven year-old Kia Krumpet, the story is more than competitions and inventions. “A story that teaches useful lessons about teamwork, family, and forgiveness.” ~Forward Reviews.
