Two months and two days! Just two months and two days until the release of Spin the Golden Light Bulb! Do you guys think I’m squealing and dancing? Of course I am! And because I cannot wait until November 9th when we’re officially two months away and because Nine Weeks Until Release Day is also a thing, I thought it would be the perfect day to premier the book trailer. Are you ready?
But, today is the not only the premier of the Official Book Trailer but also the premier of the Extended Version Book Trailer too!
That’s right. Spin the Golden Light Bulb has two book trailers.
Many of you know that this middle grade book was inspired by my Odyssey of the Mind team, the five 11 year-old kids who competed at the World Finals in 2011. Well, those same 11 year-old kids (who are 17 now) are so sweet and such good sports that they filmed a cameo appearance for my book trailer! It was so much fun working with them again, almost like we were back in our Odyssey days. I’m still a little choked up that they would do all this for me! But, since book trailers are meant to be short, and I didn’t realize how short until after we filmed, I couldn’t use the footage for the Official Book Trailer. So instead of crying, I created an extended version too so I could include it. Because really, if it weren’t for these kids, I never would have had the idea for the book in the first place. Besides, I love book trailers, so I thought, Why can’t my book have two?
So let’s get on with it, shall we?
First… The Official Spin the Golden Light Bulb Book Trailer. Enjoy!
A huge thanks to the incredible Gabrielle Esposito, the illustrator. How delightful are these illustrations? I can’t wait for you to see all of them in the actual book. And huge hugs to my niece for her adorable portrayal of Kia Krumpet in both book trailers too:)
And… The Extended Version Spin the Golden Light Bulb Book Trailer!
As you can see (and hear), we filmed on a very windy day. We also filmed while construction took place just out of camera view. Many video takes had to be scrapped because of jack hammers, cement mixers, and even a random garbage truck! But we managed to squeeze in one take that worked and had a blast doing it. I’m so grateful to my son and my former team for bringing THE CRIMSON FIVE kids to life, even if it is in a futuristic flashback! And big hugs to my daughter too for perfectly portraying Seraphina. She was one of my first Odyssey kids and this experience would not have been the same without her as well:)
Thanks for watching, guys. It has been torment waiting to share these with you! Feel free to share this post around your social media sites. In fact, I’d love it if you did. Feel free to comment with your thoughts on the book, the trailers, and anything else you can think of as well. I’d love to know what you think.
Don’t forget to check out the News tab on Thursday, the Two Months Until Publication milestone, when I’ll be announcing details of the ARC Giveaway for Spin the Golden Light Bulb too.
Until then, have a great day and as always, thanks for being so excited about this book with me. It makes this whole experience all the more wonderful!
