December Book Blast: Day 1

Hey everyone,

Happy December! We have exciting things happening on the blog this month. In honor of the holiday season, I’ll be showcasing a new middle grade book every day, instead of posting on just Wednesdays.

You may recognize the authors since they may be one of your favorites, but the books showcased may be written by a debut author as well. So do me a favor, if you’re able…stop back every day this month and help share my posts. The book recommendations may help a parent find the perfect gift for their child, or a teacher or librarian round out their wish list,  but it will certainly help us support our new fellow authors!

So here’s my December Day 1 Pick:

The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart…

Dec. Book Blast Day 1

The summary from the publisher:

After passing a series of mind bending tests, four children are selected to go on a secret mission that requires them to go undercover at the Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened, where the only rule is that there are no rules.

The back jacket blurb:

“ARE YOU A GIFTED CHILD LOOKING FOR SPECIAL OPPORTUNITIES?”

When this particular ad appears in the newspaper, dozens of children enroll to take a series of mysterious, mind-bending tests. (And you, dear reader, can test your wits right alongside them.) But in the end, just four very special children will succeed. Their challenge: to go on a secret mission that only the most intelligent and resourceful children could complete. With their newfound friendship at stake, will they be able to pass the most important test of all?

Welcome to the Mysterious Benedict Society.

This book is amazing! I only wish I had stumbled upon it sooner. Book 2 in this best selling series is in my TBR pile. So hurry…go out and get a copy for yourself or your favorite girl or boy (ages 9-14). It’s a keeper-one of the most imaginative and memorable middle grade books I’ve ever read!
