For a long time, I introduced myself simply as a writer.
And I am one, an author of whimsical middle grade and young adult stories.
But that has never been the whole story.
Somewhere between writing novels, wandering through Disney, collecting vintage teacups, and chasing wonder-filled moments with my family, I realized something:
I didn’t want to separate these parts of myself anymore.
I’m a storyteller at heart. I love to talk, and I love to write. I’ve always loved blogging. But I’m also someone who lingers a little too long in charming places just to take one more photo. Someone who can’t walk past a thrift shop without wondering if the perfect vintage teacup might be waiting inside for a future tea party. Someone who never passes up a chance to visit a pretty college campus. Someone who measures life in small, memorable moments like family adventures, Disney trips, cozy coffee shops, and quiet corners of everyday magic at home.
For a while, I thought these parts of me lived in separate rooms.
Writing belonged in one place.
Travel belonged in another.
The small everyday obsessions somewhere else entirely.
Books belonged in another.
But I don’t see it that way anymore. So, I’ve created a Substack space.
BEYOND THE STORYBOOK PATH is where all of it comes together.
It’s my studio, my travel journal, my tea table, and my notebook all woven into one space.
There, I write about creativity and storytelling, travel and memory-making, collected treasures and vintage finds, and the art of noticing wonder in ordinary days.
Some days, I may rave about my latest trip to Charleston, my favorite new read, or an adorable Royal Albert teacup. Other days, I may fangirl over British Royal fashion, talk about my kids’ weddings, or share the behind-the-scenes realities of trying to publish another book. Whatever I’m writing about, it will always be through the lens of finding magic, positivity, and a little whimsy in everyday life.
So, if you’re someone who holds many loves… someone who doesn’t quite fit into a single box like me, I hope you feel at home there too!
I will still pop over here from time to time with a new creative challenge for kids or book & writing updates. But if you’re curious to hear what I have to say when it comes to more than books and writing (although you’ll find that too!), I hope you’ll head over to Substack and subscribe to my page. It’s like stepping into my studio, tea table, and travel journal all at once.
As always, I appreciate your support here and now hopefully over there too.
See you soon…beyond the storybook path!
