Hey guys,
I’m just popping on here to tell you about BookCamp 2020. It’s a virtual summer camp for kids run by Lovereading.org. Children’s Author, Ella Schwarz is the mastermind behind it and she’s put together an amazing camp! We all know that so many camps and activities for kids have been cancelled this summer due to Covid-19. Parents everywhere are left scrambling to find fun and beneficial ways to keep their kids engaged, safe, and happy.
BookCamp 2020 is a virtual collection of on-line classes led by authors, illustrators, and publishing professionals… including me! I’m so excited to be a part of it. If you have a child or teen that loves books or writing, this is a great camp for them. Take a look at the link. There are tons of great options to choose from!

My camp for young writers is a week long, one hour per day, for kids ages 8-12. Depending on the demand I may open more sections… we’ll see! Click on my page for a description and all the details! I love working with kids, especially when I can share my tips for writing and give them the inside scoop on publishing. And motivate them to chase their dreams! We’ll create a kid-centered virtual critique group! What could be better than that? If you have any questions, please comment below or email me at swirlandspark@gmail.com. If you’re ready, you can also just sign up. Registration is open now.
On another note, POP THE BRONZE BALLOON is set to publish 4 months from today… on November 10th! It’s been a long time coming for this one and I’m so excited that soon you’ll be able to read Crimson Five: Book 3! It is available for preorder now, or if you haven’t read the first two books in the series, Spin the Golden Light Bulb and Flip the Silver Switch, summer is a great time to catch up. I mean, who doesn’t want to spend the lazy days of summer under a tree with a good book. At least I think the books are good! 🙂
I’ve been busy drafting (and now revising!) a brand new middle grade manuscript so I’ve been away from the blog for awhile. But, I’ll be back soon to share my progress. Until then, I hope you’re having a wonderful summer!
