Last time, I blogged about how tough it can be to keep writing through difficult periods. Today, I have something more upbeat to talk about, one of the perks to being published: signing books for readers!
In two weeks, I’ll be signing books at the Rochester Children’s Book Festival with about 50 other authors and illustrators. Celebrating its 25th year, it has been deemed “the gold standard of book festivals” and it’s practically in my own back yard! I can’t tell you how great it is to be in the company of so many creators whose work I admire and respect. I’m literally counting down the days! To learn more about the festival, go to: https://www.rcbfestival.com
I participated in this festival in 2018, my debut year, and it was such a magical day. Most of it was a blur, a whirlwind of kids, and parents, and authors, and books. So many books! But the memories are etched forever in my mind. With my gold gel pen in hand, I signed books, drew stars, gave out stickers, and chatted about the Crimson Five kids, the characters in my middle grade series. Back then, only Spin the Golden Light Bulb and Flip the Silver Switch had been published. This year, though, I’ll be signing copies of Pop the Bronze Balloon too. After restrictions on in-person events, I’m thrilled that this festival will finally take place again. It’ll be a dream to see all three of my books lined up together for the first time and even better to share them with readers!
If you’re local in Rochester, NY, I’d love to meet you! Bring your kids. Tell your friends. Details are below.

If you’re reading this and wondering if you’ll ever have your own book festival moment, let my enthusasm for this event push you to keep chasing your dreams. It wasn’t that long ago that I sat where you are. Okay, yeah maybe it was awhile ago, but you get what I’m saying. There was a time when I DREAMED of signing books at this very festival. It took awhile but it happened for me. If you stick with it, it can happen for you too. So don’t give up. Someone out there is waiting to read your books and get them signed by YOU.
To watch the book trailers, read the blurbs, or find purchase details for my series, go to THE CRIMSON FIVE BOOKS tab above. Everything (and more!) is right there.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend! And as always, thanks for reading.
